HIV services

Our HIV Service provides specialist advice and support on HIV-related issues.

The service is available to any person (adult or child) living with HIV and we will also support the family and/or carers.

One of our key roles is to supply specialist medication support, both in the community and in our clinics. We also provide information, advice and support about living with HIV and how to manage your condition.

If I'm worried about HIV, how can I get tested?

HIV tests are available from all of our clinics.

You will be asked to give a blood sample in order to test for HIV. We will offer you a full sexual health screen at the same time.

It's often necessary to repeat an HIV test three months after the first test result, as the body can take up to three months to produce a response to HIV exposure. This period of time is referred to as the ‘window period’. The doctors and nurses in clinic will inform you if your HIV test needs to be repeated.

Rapid results are available to some patients after assessment.
