Preventing an STI/HIV

Using a condom when you have sex (vagina, anal and oral) is the best way to avoid catching an STI, however you can also reduce your risk by:  

• Talking with your partner(s) about STIs and contraception use.
• Getting tested, along with your partner before sexual activity especially if you have never tested or not tested since your last partner.
• Avoiding sex when under the influence of alcohol or drugs as this can reduce your ability to make good decisions.
