Text Message Results

Important Information about receiving your results

We will send you your results via SMS text message. You will be notified as soon as your results are ready, usually within 7 working days of us receiving your samples into the laboratory. If you are being tested for multiple infections, you will receive multiple text messages to inform you of your results. Text messages will come from ‘NHSNoReply’.

Negative result (no infection detected)

The message will look something like this if your test for a particular infection was negative (clear). This means that there was no evidence of infection in the sample you provided and you do not have the infection(s) stated in the text message.

Positive result (infection detected)

The message will look something like this if your test for a particular infection was positive. This means that there is evidence of infection in the sample you provided and we will contact you to arrange treatment.

Repeat test needed

In some cases it may not be possible to test the sample you have provided or we may need to repeat your test. We will send you a text message indicating that another test needs to be completed, which will look something like this.

Privacy settings

Results are sent via SMS text message. Depending on your own privacy settings, your text message may display a preview on your mobile or multiple devices if you have these linked. It is possible to adjust your privacy settings if you do not wish for other people to view a message from us. Please refer to your handset instructions for how to change privacy settings. If you would prefer not to receive a text message naming the infection(s) that you have been tested for, please select ‘No - Without name of the infection’ from the ‘Would you like your result text to contain the infection name?’ field on the request form.
