What is Psychosexual Counselling and Therapy?
We understand that it is often difficult to talk about intimate sexual problems. We aim to provide a warm and welcoming place where we can work with you in a confidential, sensitive and supportive way. We are a team of Psychosexual Counsellor/Therapists with special training and experience in supporting people with sexual problems. We are Accredited Members of the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists.
We offer short-term counselling and therapy for individuals or couples. To access our service you must be aged 16 or over and registered with a GP in the Hampshire area. You will need to talk to your GP first to discuss referral to our service. Once your referral is received it will be reviewed by our team. If we believe we are able to help, you will be placed on a waiting list and offered an initial appointment as soon as possible. We aim to see everyone who is referred to us within 7 weeks of referral.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, for the safety of our clients and therapists, we are offering only telephone or video counselling sessions for individuals or couples, even if you are not living together during the lockdown period. To engage fully in counselling, you will need to be able to speak to your therapist in a private and confidential space without distractions. If you have been accepted for therapy over our secure video connection, further information about using the service can be found in this leaflet.

What happens in a Psychosexual Counselling and Therapy Clinic?
Your first visit will be an opportunity for us to talk with you and also your partner if you wish. (It is often helpful to attend with your partner, but you can be seen on your own or joined later by your partner if you prefer.) We will listen to you and ask you some questions, so together we can begin to understand your concerns and discuss ways in which we may be able to help. There are no physical examinations; we will only ever talk with you. At the end of your first visit, if we agree that psychosexual counselling may work for you, we can offer you 6 further sessions. Sessions last up to 50 minutes. The frequency of sessions will be arranged with your therapist.
